Fencing calculators

Calculators for panel fencing in metres and millimetres, from the number of panels to the bags of concrete for the posts.

Planning a panel fence

  1. Measure the run. Measure each straight section along the line of the fence, and note any gates and corners.
  2. Measure a panel and a post. Post spacing depends on how the panel is held, so measure one panel and the post it fits against.
  3. Count panels, posts and gravel boards with the fence panel calculator.
  4. Work out the concrete with the fence post concrete calculator, using your hole size.
  5. Check the height. In England a fence can generally be up to 2 metres high, or 1 metre next to a highway, without planning permission. Check the exceptions for your property.
